My friend gave me his XBOX because it had a bad DVD drive which I have a replacement being shipped. But while trying to unlock the HDD to get some of his files off it was formatted. All I want to do is put the standard XBOX Dashboard that it came with back on so I can boot it up and play. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated considering I am just stumped.

Try using XboxHDM to restore the MS dashboard, which can be taken from a Slayer's Evox auto-installer disc, to your Xbox's hard drive.

How to do this is explained by the XboxHDM guide in my signature.
