Minor Dash Update: Chinese Font File Updated
Posted by XanTium | June 13 10:55 EST

From majornelson.com:

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that there is dash update that will start to roll out around 0200 (am) PT today. There are no new features in this update. There is one, small fix that improves character recognition for those users that are using the localized Chinese language version of the dashboard on their Xbox 360. You'll get prompted for this mandatory update the next time you connect to Xbox Live. (Yes, you need to take the update even if you don't use the Chinese language version of the dash keyboard.) I wanted to let you guys know what's in the update, since I was sure you'd ask anyway.

*Update* From the Team Xbox Dev/PR Blog:
"There are no other changes in this build. In fact there were no other code changes at all, as this was just the change of a single font file added to the update package."
The dashboard version goes from v2.0.2857.0 to v2.0.2858.0

This seems so fishy.... I somehow fear it will be a patch for the FW Hack this time, they probably implemented some recognition in the previous patch, noticed it worked, and now are taking action.

But you'll never know wink.gif

i hate how ms keeps forcing these updates. my console is at risk for a measily chinese language fix. im sure that could have waited to stick that into a future update.

Yes i agree these update's sometimes seem to do more harm then good it's just about worth it to keep your 360 unpluged from the internet. Every time u pop in a game or go online in muiltyplayer any more they want to force a update.

Some friends from a gaming forum in Brazil told me that their 360s are running fine, so, it seems, no detection of XTREME firmware, at least one that would not allow the console to start up... Regarding bans, it is too early, since they can take up to 3 days to ban you.

What i would do if I were MS is go through all the post of people talking about the firmware hack so openly and look at there signatures with their gamercards. I would then compile a list of names and fry their xboxes. People need to realize, that if you talk about it so much, eventually someone will fix the problem.
