I bought two of these in the hope that maybe I could use them when I have a direct connection via cable to another xbox.

My son and I both have xboxes and we connect them together to play multiplayer games. Ive heard that you can talk to each other so purchased the xbox live communicator to chat to him whilst playing the game in a different room.
So switch on call of duty the big red one.Plug them both in-both green lights come on and no sound-even tho the speaker volume is up.
Question- Will these ONLY work on live ?
Is there a work around ?
Cheers all for any help.

Maybe the game doesn't support headset talk? I'm not sure. But I have used headsets on several games on LAN without problem.

ditto. I've used them with system link with Halo 2, even with an Xbox 360 connected to an "old" xbox. I'm thinking that particular game has an issue with LAN communicator communication
