First..you never would have guessed what happened.

I was on the way home from my girlfriends house, and I saw this white bag on the side of the road with something greenish blackish sticking out. It turned out to be an xbox!

I was like OMG! it had just rained so I figured that there was water damage or w/e. Well, I get home and look at the case more. The top is pretty badly scratched and the screws under the rubber feet are missing. I open it up and the dvd plastic tray is missing, but the drive is there. The hard drive is missing along with the IDE...

I made sure there wasn't any water in it, and I plugged it in...it turns right on! well, it has the error (yellow green lights flashing) for no video cable found and such...

well, I just happen to have a clear xbox case around, so I'm putting it together...but there's a problem...

The plastic part of the case that holds the dvd drive over the motherboard is missing...

is there a way that I can make something? like is there a tutorial out there or something that I can make or purchase from (paypal friendly...) ?

thanks in advance,

pretty nice find. but i think that peice would be hard to make. why dont you try to make a slimbox out of it, without the dvd drive.

No, you can buy a new DVD "carrier" in the xbox B/S/T thread here. As for the dvd tray, contact Alex548 for one, im sure he has one for sale from a bad drive. The IDE cable, dvd tray, and drive carrier can all be found in the BST thread actually. And since it's missing the harddrive, you may need a modchip and a new harddrive to replace.

~Nice find!

found out something on the mobo...apparently it must have been a dumped modded one...but the chip isn't there...

it looks like the LPC ports have pin in them for a mod chip...kinda like my X3 in my 1.6 box...it has a lpc pin for the chip to go on...

I tried out the box...and it does the 3 attempts to boot...then turns off...

the LPC port soldering job is pretty good...I can't see anything wrong with it...whoever soldered, did a good job...

I have some pics of it here...wonering if anyone can help me out to figure out what chip could have been on this mobo...

I was looking at the x3 install tutorial on the team xecuter site...and the lpc port pin config seems to match up...

I'm going to look into it more...and attempt to repair the motherboard...

if it happens to be a x3 chip that was there...is there anyway I can get the mobo back to stock??

I would like to softmod it instead of installing another chip...

you put ur chip on?

did you also remeber to connect the d0 hdd lan wire on the bottom of the mobo

if you didnt then the tsop is fried
cuz it needs the chip need the d0 to be grounded so it will boot from the chip

and ive NEVER IN MY LIFE seen a RED PINHEADER!!! ph34r.gif ph34r.gif

this is an xbox I found on the side of the road...I have no idea what chip was in here before...

reguarding the TSOP... once I solder the 2 points since this mobo is a 1.0...then what? will the xbox miraculously turn on? or will it still do the 3 boot frag?

SnaveZ unsure.gif

EDIT

Those points on the mobo are apparently soldered already for the TSOP...but the board still does the 3 boot frag...what else can I do to get this thing working again???

soldering the 2 points will only allow the tsop to be written over. It shouldnt stop your xbox from fragging.
