Hello, i got me a sparkly new wrt54g router and decked it out with dd-wrt (if anyone knows what that is :s)

Now for some reason i can not get my xbox to connect to the internet, The only way i can even ftp into it is if i use static IP and use the ip that my router says that its pulling (1.103) my router is set for DHCP, which is how my modem connects and its how my xbox used to connect without the new router...... when i set my xbox for dhcp, i dont get any thing, and xbmc says the xbox is not connected.

when i use static it tells me the xbox is connected but there is no dns.

my desktop and notebook work fine connected to this router, can you guys help me?

Hi

i'd personally set aside a "reserved" IP address within your router for the xbox.

give the xbox the reserved IP, but have it set to "static" rather than DHCP, so
that no matter what, the xbox will always receive the same IP even though the
router is configured as your DHCP server.

as for the IP settings on the xbox, they should look something like this:-

IP 192.168.x.x (where x.x is the IP range and address)
subnet 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.x.x (the DG should be the routers IP address)
DNS 192.168.x.x (as above, this should also be the routers IP)

let us know how you get on

Ste.
