Id go with the seagate, only cause maxtors seem to be in most (screwup)threads
plus seagates make less noise

oh god.. not another one of these topics!!!!

anyways i like seagate.... OR Western Digital..

although IBM ROCK!.. they are just $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ so i dont even look there!

get a 120 gig!.. coz if u wanna use all 137 gig... u will have HEAPS of UN USED space on ur hard drive seeing that the next closest is 160 gig? (i think)!

cheers

Well, IBM doesn't rock, and Seagate is not bad... but all HDD are pretty much gonna get you almost the same results. You can pick up a samsung 120gig 5400rpm on www.pricewatch.com for under $100 shipped to you. I have a sammy, and never had a problem with it.

I am getting a Samsung 120gb 5400rpm hd. I have read great things about this drive, it is lockable, runs cool, and it is very quite. Plus I ordered mine for $97 dollars (that includes shipping) and there were no damn mail in rebates. It should be arriving today.

Why don't you get a lockable 150 gig HD.The limit is 137 so you'l only be loseing like 13 gig.Compared to not having 30 possible gigs if you get a 120 gig HD.

I have a maxtor myself and haven't had any problems with it, but I'd also go with a western digital.

i have been using 120gig (7200) western digital with no problems ...

although i'm getting samsung 120gig because it's running at 5400 ... figured ... xbox would run cooler ...

is 5400 the preferred speed for xbox? i don't want problems down the road.

Yeh well my W/digital HDD special edtion 120gb 7200rpm 8mb cache is not lockable ? Not that it worries me..It says it's locked and all I can think is it locks with the incorrect code ?? Tried it a few times and also with configmagic but when original bios is used errors come up still...

blah - blah - blah - blah -- blahblah

Just read the thread, and decide between Maxtor, Western Digital, and Seagate (and I'm sure others that I missed that someone will chime in with).

Look at price, warranty, lockability, and if you need it to be less noisy. They are all good and all of them have models that lock.

(sorry still *dandruff up* from another thread)
