XBMC is missing some controls to i.e. switch off the RGB-Port on Video-Playing. It would be also nice to have a Visual which makes use of the RGB-LEDs.

Yeah, it really rocks. Maybe XBMC-Staff will include some ambi-light features in the future. smile.gif Had seen something like this for mplayer on PC-Boxes. smile.gif

Be aware to use a driver-setup like this on the pictures when you need more then 200mA on one PWM-channel.

This is absolutely amazing. I can't believe something like this existed and no one has taken advantage of it before?

That video is awesome. Any chance of a tut? or some schematics?

Also your wire management skills are amazing. I'm stunned...

I have some wirings here at home and will compile this together in the future.

Actually its quite easy. You buffer the PWM-channels of the SmartXX with small transistors and fire up some FET's with it. If you dont need much power you could do this with a small darlington-array. The FET's used here are able to switch ~4.5Ampere at 25C (So you would need a cooling then). The V3 is rated with 200mA current at 5V, so 20 LED's like in this case would blow up the chip.

RGB-LED-Control is powered by XBMC, but not all things we wish are workin actually. (Like switch off light on movie or fade more than between 2 colors)

Wiso@dvd2xbox helped me out with some alphacode of his tool to get a good feeling for the colors n stuff.

You also could do the RGB-Thingie with some CCFL-Cathodes. smile.gif

As i sayd, there is a plugin for mplayer out there, which gets the main-color from a movie and controls the RGB-Stage then. (Like Ambilight from Phillips)

Would be rather cool to have this in XBMC. smile.gif (Like green room when you see soccer or something like that)...

Putting some large CCFL on the chip will do the job. muhaha.gif

Very nice, I have never been a big fan of the clear cases with tons of LEDs but that was just hypnotic man!
BTW this is my first post so what's up people! I've been reading this site for awhille thinking to myself, "I wish my xbox was that cool". I'm done wishing and now I'm doing some case mods. I'm about to go buy a second xbox and custom the hell out of the case.

Need any more incentive go with SmartXX? Didn't think so. Fan-Freakin-Tastic box. I'm truly in awe. The first half of the vid reminds me of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Kinda spooky even. I hope you get the issues ironed out, because it is VERY apparent youve spent alot of time on this. Kinda raises the bar, eh guys?
