I tried searching for this but couldnt find much. according to this article and a few others i have seen, http://news.yahoo.co...19/tc_zd/191900

"Unlike the Xbox 360, which includes a well thought-out media adapter, Sony's console will not stream, nor copy files from PCs or other computers in the home."

Does this mean everything has to be on the hard drive?

The article also says this.
"Sony execs said the company would not be downloading trailers and other Sony-specifc content to the PS3 unasked for—at least not at first. They left the door open for push-based content down the road."

Has MS said anything about this?

I'm going to wait until there are some in-depth hands-on reviews of this system before I take the plunge, if I can't stream my UNCONVERTED dvd library from my PC then I'm going to pass on PS3 and build an HTPC.

Hopefully a linux distro for it will have some MythTV capabilities.
