Hello All,

I have a ms25 born feb 06 and have flashed it many times with the newest firmwares. I put in 4.0 a couple of weeks ago and it runs without a problem. I recently wanted to try to flash it the new 4.2. Keep in mind I have an Nforce4 mobo that I am using a NF4 MTKFLASH with. Nevertheless, I use a floppy and this is exactly what I do:

1. Turn on PC and have it boot to DOS with bootable floppy that has the proper mtkflash and firmware on it.
2. Turn on 360.
3. After about 10 seconds I put in the 0800 dvd+R DL, wait about 20 seconds eject it and close tray.
4. Type in mtkflash w /m xtrem42a.bin
5. Asks me what drive I would like to choose and it only lists NF4 SATA PRIMARY or SLAVE. Whichever one I pick it will hang on Port: 9eO Mster/Slave: a0 and will not do anything until I hit escape in which it says

status=00 should be 70.

I have interchanged steps 3 and 4 also and have still gotten the same results. Could it be that after I flashed to 4.0, which if I am not wrong, makes my drive a ms28, my sata no longer recoginzes the drive and will only work if I have a sata with the VIA chipset??? Like I said before, I have not had any problems before 4.0.

Any feedback would be appreciated.....Thank you.

It's now behaving as a MS28 firmware, so two possibile things to try are
(1) add the /sata switch to your mtkflash command and
(2) the bad flash method instead of using the Enable disk

What program did you use to burn your enable 0800 disc? What type of media did you burn your enable 0800 disc to? I ask these as it took me burning three discs to get one that worked and I had to use CloneCD, IMGBurn wouldnt work for my enable 0800 disc even though I burn all my games with IMGBurn.

After flashing my MS25 to MS28 based firmware, my MTKFLASH would only show 2 ports. I have found that turning off the 360 and back on with the 0800 disc still in it, run the command and MTKFLASH will detect and proceed to read/write.

I used CloneCd and burned image onto a Verbatim DVD+R DL. Is this the type of error one would get if the 0800 dvd was not burned correctly? I will try ur method tnbigdawg
