My old 1.0\X2 was getting unreliable, so I went ahead and got a 1.6, installed an X3, everything went fine. I also planned to upgrade my HD from 160 to 400GB. I used Flash FXP to copy the contents to my PC, left it running overnight. Was still going in the AM, so left it running. I checked on it a few hours later and noticed the Xbox screen was black and Flash FXP wasn't receiving any files. I rebooted the Xbox and it went straight to a messed up screen- looks like a bunch of dashes all over the screen. The lights on the front of the Xbox appear normal and the eject button opens the DVD. I thought maybe it was something with the graphics chip, but I can't FTP into the box or ping it, and the X3 LCD doesn't come on, so I'm sure it's not booting. It behaves the same with the chip removed, except the screen is black- no artifacts. When I first noticed the trouble, I noticed the heatsink was very hot. I'm thinking I toasted the GPU. Any ideas??
