So I decided to give avalaunch a try, and rather than try to boot it as an app within UneleashX (my primary dash of choice), I back up my E\Root folder and replace it with the latest version found at the usual place.

When I rebooted, I was greeted with Error 21.

It's obvious to me that I'm going to have to rebuild my HDD again, but I'd like to know where Avalaunch (or I) went wrong.

Any ideas?

You probably didn't rename the default.xbe as "evoxdash.xbe" after transferring it to your hard drive.
evoxdash.xbe being whatever dashboard filename your xbox searches for upon booting up.
