i just bought an xbox off XS and its completely unmodded physically
it is softmodded...

looking through the pics ppl have posted, alot of ppl have some ill setups on here and i want to start modding my case over my break while i have time
im wondering where someone who has never physically modded an xbox should start. im open to anything although i will say im not comfortable soldering stuff so id rather not delve into those projects
any suggestions or guides would be muchhh appreciated

thanks in advance

although its not a case mod I think the first thing anyone should do is upgrade the HDD and grab XBMC...

I am new to modding and I must say it is so satisfying once you change something, even the smallest thing. I started by hardwiring a couple wireless controllers and changing the eject LEDs and I have re-fallen in love with my mighty box again. Although you say you would like to stay away from soldering I think its an essential skill of a modder and you wont get far with out it.

Then again I am a n00b to modding so what do I know tongue.gif

isedeasy told u the first thing u should do, then u should paint ur case (at least the lid), this is really esay, (just make sure the lid is off the xbox, then do some lighting, and to top that all off, some windows, then its only left to ur imagination, my personal dream is to put my IEC fusion design into an xbox (i cant do [$], just dream, but they can lead to so much more)

I followed this guide and it gave me no problems....

Although you may need to apply the softmod again after you have upgraded.

And I quote thyself (<- used correctly?)-
QUOTE
umm, you could go totally into the case modding thing and paint your case/buy a replacement case, add LEDs in the controller ports, switch the LEDs on the p/e board, do a dvd drive window, add some case windows, upgrade the stock fan to an 80mm LED fan, do some sideglow, then some underglow, then clear your xbox jewel and put an led ring or an 80mm cold cathode ring around it.. and BAM.. sex.

That should give you a good idea... tongue.gif

Good luck!

p.s. I recommend xboxhdm (sp?) for upgrading/cloning/repairing hard drives.

No cathode kit requires soldering, they splice into the molex using a Y-splitter

it is a 4 pin power connector (the xbox's is used by the hard drive, in a computer they power most drives), the splitter and cathode should be able to be found at a good computer store (radio-crap does not count)

EDIT: forgot about the LEDs lol, ok many LEDs work around 1.5 - 3 V, (it varies) DO NOT OVER CHARGE ONE, I HAD ONE BLOW UP AND SHOOT ACROSS THE ROOM A FEW YEARS BACK, HAD ME A NICE SPLINTER, ok, u want to use the 5V pin and one of the ground pins on the molex connector and splice into it, then u can use a resistor to get the proper V for the LEDs (google an LED resistor calculator, should be an easy find)
