this is the first mod ive posted. not my first mod in general. i recently bought another 400gb hdd, so now i have 2x 400gb hdds. So i decided to do the dual hdd mod. but just leaving the hdd sitting on top looked too weird and unsafe for me. so here is my plan:

place a new tray on the top of the xbox
install toggle switch for hdds
bondo it up and make it look nice
cut holes for extra fans
install top brace for new tray
install a 40mm fan on top of new hdd tray for extra cooling
painting xbox

i'll keep you updated with pictures as i go.

alright here is a pic of what i have done already. really choppy looking i know. but thats what the bondo is for tongue.gif . i like the bolts sticking out cuz it looks more machinery-like. let me know what you think.

blink.gif ... Just, uhm, yea idk what to say.... Well, if you do a crapload of bondoing, then perhaps it wouldn't be terrible, but still pretty bad looking...

right now its in a very very early form. there is going to be a lot of improvments. i havent even done much sanding on it. this is just the general idea of it. and a lot is missing. thats just the tray to hold it for now. give it time and it'll look better. i admit right now it does look like crap. but things do at first. you dont start out with a beautiful painting. you add more to make it look better. am i right?

so i'm trying to picture this.. you say you're going to bondo this, so i assume that you're going to bondo the tray to the top, but leave the hdd area itself alone, so that the hdd will be exposed? and if you do that, won't the side bondo cover the screw holes to attach the hdd? i suppose you could always just drill holes in the bottom of the tray and screw it in from below...

well only a minimal amount of bondo. the bondo isnt for securing it down. just to make it look like the tray is actually part of the top plate. and i'm only getting the bottom of the screw holes with bondo so you cant see in the case thru them. the rest of the screw hole is revealed and easy to access. but i'm taking the plastic i cut out of the top plate where the jewel was and making a top piece out of it and using the on top of the tray to make the jewel still there, but still being able to see the second hdd.

yeah the bondoing was a bitch, and didnt quite turn out like i wanted it to. but since i'm too lazy to do it again. it'll work as it is. its just a little bumpy still. but my dad was killed a year ago in a car wreck. a guy was high on weed and hit my dad head on.

alright i have some painting done. its a metalic finish so lots of fingerprints show already tongue.gif . the bondo went alright. kinda looks like the tray was welded on though..good enough for me. i have my jewel piece assembled on. i made brackets to hold it out of parts of my old gamecube tin shielding. creative i know tongue.gif . here are some pictures. the fins arent painted or the little triangles. they have masking tape over them because i want them to stay black. let me know how bad it sucks and i might fine tune it a little bit. but its still not done tho. here are some pics
