Dayton teenager charged with duping Xbox games
The News-Register staff
DAYTON - A 17-year-old Dayton boy has been arrested by Newberg-Dundee police for allegedly copying Xbox 360 games and selling them on the free advertising site craigslist.
The teen was charged with one count each of computer crime, a Class C felony, and second-degree theft, a Class A misdemeanor. He was released to a parent after being cited into Yamhill County Juvenile Court.
It is News-Register policy to identify juvenile suspects only when they face Class A or B felonies, the most serious under Oregon law.
Newberg-Dundee police received information in December about the activity. They were assisted by piracy investigators from Microsoft in making the case.
Police officers and Yamhill County sheriff's deputies served a search warrant at the teen's home during the course of the investigation. At that time, they seized items allegedly related to the illegal copying and selling of the games.
