The BIOS program in each system launches the game from the disk, right?
So if I got a copy of the BIOS from on system, say a gamecube, found the file that controls launching the game, and installed it along with an X-box BIOS on a modchip installed in my Xbox, would the Xbox be able to play gamecube discs as well as Xbox discs?

Does anyone follow that?

Wont work. Even though you have the bios the hardware is different. Its like flashing an xbox bios on a pc
