as topic stated... I tested many games and some work for samsung only but doesn't work on hatachi drive... some work for both... does it has something to do with the security sector on the game or something else?? thanks in advance.

P.S... both firmware is most uptodate... and the dvd writer is pioneer 111d, using RiDATA inkjet white double layer.

Nothing to do with SS.

Both can play backup of all games.

If you have the latest firmware 2.3 on you hitachi, it should be OK.

I am tempted to say, try some verbatim to see if you have the same problem.

drives can be very picky. you could have two identical samsungs and one could work and the other not. It really depends on the drive laser and such. As Soso stated, I would only use verbatim discs, they are a proven best media hands down.

@jabroniekilla

Good point, it certainly could be that this specific hitachi drive is not the most performant of his kind.

Well it's no secret that Hitachi drives in general are more fussy than the Samsung drives (even with the latest firmware updates). As mentioned above it's hard to go wrong with Verbatim D/L media.

My Idol Master backup (JAP) won't boot AT ALL on my JAP X360 (Hitachi 47dj), and it "boots" normally on my US X360 (Samsung ms28), but then I get the "wrong region" message...

destroy that copy and reburn with good media, using Imgburn (set Booktype depending on your hitachi fw version, but it does not hurt anyway) on a good burner!!!
Helping on a problem is nice, with info it is easier wink.gif ,

I used good quality media (Verbatim) and Imgburn, as I always do for all my backups. I use a Pioneer 111D that automatically sets booktype to DVD-ROM...

Only funny thing is, after I had flashed the 111D to 8.29buffalo ( 111D internal version) I could only burn DL media at 1.7~1.9 speed. I now flashed the drive to 8.26buffalo 111L external version, and set it to Ultra DMA 4, but I didn't burn any DL media since then. So I think MAYBE it could help? Do you think it might make any difference and actually create a disc that will boot on the 47dj JAP console???

SOmething could be wrong with you Pioneer or your PC. Usually it should work even with stock Firmware.

Before going into that, why not simply do a backup of another game and try it on your ms28, just to be sure your setup is OK.
If it is then your 47dj might simply be less performant.

How are the original playing on each?
How have you done the backup?
-for ss.bin which software & drive
-for game.iso which software & drive
-how was it merged

Gonna check it all when I get home later!!!

I hope another backup solves this though, because I really believed that the disc had something that prevented it from booting on hitachi drives, or something like that...

I still did not make another backup of the Idol Master, because I am afraid the one I already have MIGHT be all right. I was not in the mood to waste a DL media (and time) for nothing. So I tested the hitachi drive with my backups of both Dead Rising and Gears of War (both work perfect on my Samsung drive), and the games won't boot at all on the hitachi. Call of Duty 3 backup DOES boot but the game gets reading errors at the beginning...

Gonna tweak the drive a bit next week and hope it gets better reading...

Will post results and anything else!
