Ping first, FTP afterwards.

Are your PC and Xbox on the same subnet? Using the right cable for your setup?

There are really about a dozen things that could be checked; you need to provide more information about your setup and what you've tried so far.

Im using a Crossover cable to go straight from my PC to my Xbox, my Subnet is 255.255.255.0 and there both on the same subnet, and the same workgroup (idk if that makes a difference) if you need anymore info just ask biggrin.gif

EDIT: im just going to try Pinging my xbox now
ok, ive just pinged my xbox and i got a reply every time and i just saw that my pc has sent 50 Packets and has recived 5 packets but it still wont connect to my xbox and im sure my usr & pass is correct, im using XBMC and my usr & pass is xbox biggrin.gif

If you're using an old version of XBMC, are you sure the FTP server is enabled?

since you never mentioned this... are you using a "real" ftp client and NOT something like Internet Explorer?

use a real ftp client like FlashFXP (or some free alternatives) and try using a new dashboard like XBMC.

then you should be good i would think.

What? huh.gif

Can you, or can you not, ping the IP your Xbox has successfully? From the command prompt. Plain and simple.

And when I asked you if both machines were on the same subnet, I mean the third octet of their addresses. Not the mask you listed.

More info...

what i mean by the packets is, when you click the network link in the icon tray it pops up a window saying how many Packets you have sent or recived, it says i have recieved none and my PC has sent about 100, but if i Ping it from DOS i get a reply, thats what i ment smile.gif . and my IP is 192.168.0.1 my xbox IP is 192.168.0.2, Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0, i hope thats what you need

u could be right as i never directly tried myself as i have a router so it's much easier to setup ip address's etc for it.

but i would try doing that...

pc setup like this...

192.168.0.1 for default gateway (for xbox and pc)
pc's ip address switch it to 192.168.0.5
subnetmask to 255.255.255.0 (for both xbox and pc)

setup xbox like 192.168.0.4 for it's ip adress

see if this helps at all.... if not i would try using a different dashboard like UnleashX (as this is the fastest ftp i have tried myself) or a new version of XBMC or something like this.

this almost has to work for sure assuming all the hardware is in good running order.

p.s. just to make sure the ftp client aint at fault (unlikely but i supposed it could happen) is to try another ftp client like FlashFXP or something like that.... or even try filezilla which is free... you can download it here... http://superb-east.d...2_30a_setup.exe

No need for a default gateway with a crossover cable.

You're pinging the Xbox sucessfully, that's proof enough.

However: http://www.chefelf.c.../networking.php

Now, since you're physical network is okay, any chance your firewall(s) are blocking?

cool... im glad you got it going.

make sure your x3 bios's ftp settings are setup correctly... i dont have a X3 chip myself but i have used one at one time cause my cousin got one... i just have a Xecuter 2.3B PRO modchip myself (i installed it in Aug 2004).... so i dont have a ftp server in the bios like you do.... so in other words i cant give you any direct answers about the x3 config live ftp related stuff.

the x3 bios should work fine though but if you cant get it going you could always end up using a boot cd like slayers etc to get your xbox running.

me personally though i would use the x3's built in ftp server. (which is what your trying to do now wink.gif )
