not sure if this is the proper place to post this or not, but I was wondering if there was a way to replace the fonts with custom sizes. I tried searching through the forums but to no avail. I want to replace the ariel.ttf with a kingsthings_petrock font. It may just be me but I think the ariel font for 720p is too large and the 1080i has the perfect font size but XBMC is choppy in that resolution. I currently am using mc360 as my skin if that matters

You could probably just put the font file in the font folder in the media folder in XBMC and delete arial.ttf that's already there and rename the new file to arial.ttf

if you want to change the 720p font size just go into the 720p dir of the skin and open up font.xml then change the <size> numbers to whatever you want don't bother touching the xpr ones though that will just error

thanks Jezz X. I've never changed the values of a xml, is there a certain program I need to use, or can I just chage it in notebook. I have no experience with xml, just ini files.

edit

And I assume that the smaller the value the smaller the size, is this correct.

never mind, just opened up the source, changed the values and saved. Worked like a charm. That was alot easier than I thought it would be, I wonder why I never bothered to edit xml's before. I guess I never had the desire too.

thanx again Jezz_X

can I apply my own fonts and change the xml to read kingthings instead of ariel or can I just rename the kingthings to ariel.ttf

edit

there is one font I would like to keep roughly the same size, the RSS feed. could you tell me which one this is in the xml. thanks in advance

edit

never mind I found it.

lol
as for making a new font just copy and paste the whoel fonset block into another one and rename the ttf file the bits there then you will 4 font types
copy copy an paste this bit and change the bit in bold

QUOTE
<fontset id="Arial" unicode="true">

<font>
<name>font10</name>
<filename>Arial.ttf</filename>
<size>18</size>
</font>

.
.
. Bit cut out
.
.
<font>
<name>special13</name>
<filename>Arial.ttf</filename>
<size>20</size>
</font>

</fontset>
