Help Please! Hd-dvd Drive Dead?
Posted 09 April 2007 - 01:13 AM
The HD-DVD drive will power up (lighted eject button) when I manually open or close the tray, but as soon as the tray is done moving around, the lighted eject button turns off again. I have checked my connections, unplugged it for a few days, even tried reinstalling the software that came with the drive, but the XBox 360 just won't recognize that the drive is there.
Anyone know of this? I've been searching the internet and have found nothing like this. Please help. I'll be rather ticked off if this thing is already broken. $200 to play about 10 HD movies is a tad ridiculous.

try it in a different usb port on the 360 if it works then, then unplug all power suppies, video cables, usb cables, hdd... and reconnect them starting with the video and 360 power cord.. then hook everything else up..should fix the messed up usb problem
No dice, but thanks. Looks like MS wants $60 to fix it. Decided to sell the 360 and everything, after being an XBox fan for years and years. Already sold 80% of the games and sold the 360. Just gotta repair the drive then I'll sell that. MS should have a better warranty than 3 months on a $200 piece of hardware. Too bad they call it an "accessory."
