like topic says, will this wire work for a mod install? also i hear you should use flux, could someone point me to a good/cheap kind to use? thanks

dont use that wire its not the right kind, and go to lowes and get sterling water soluble flux

you can in fact use that wire, but it can be hard to work with. the picture that they show isn't actually 30 gauge wire - 30 gauge is very fine, and it can hard to figure out if you've actually stripped the insulation on magnet wire (wrapping wire) as the insulation itself is clear. while i use this sort of wire for ps2 installs, i'd recommend 30 gauge kynar like this stuff for xbox modchips. it will be a little easier to work with and there's no question as to whether you've actually stripped the insulation on the end or not.

as for flux, just get flux core solder from the local radio shack and you should be fine...

All my mods (chips and LEDs) are done using Kynar 30 AWG wire. It's awesome.
