I have a 7 year old pc.....intel P3 800mhz i815E/Eb mobo 370 socket.

I got a via 6421L card and its detected by windows.

The question is that do i need my pc to support sata in order to be able to flash my xbox 360.?

I really dont know if my pc supports sata....is there any way to check?

Open the case and see if the card or motherboard has any SATA ports, if not then it won't work.

Considering your pc is 7 years old it most likely does not have on board SATA. That being said I don't see why you wouldn't be able to just pop in a PCI SATA Controller card, boot up and install the neccesary drivers. They're relatively inexpensive.

If you do get a controller card be sure to look up which brands are easily compatible with the xbox dvd drive! Some people that do have on board SATA Controllers are not guaranteed to be compatible with the xbox dvd drive in which case their only option is to add a new PCI SATA controller.
