XBMC connected via a Router(netgear dg834)
I am now unable to access Weather or FTP etc.

I think it may be due to a change in my ISP.
I now have a static IP - would this affect anything?

Any assistance on what the settings should look like would be most appreciated.
thank you.

Your static IP shouldn't change the premise of being able to have multiple IP's in a certain range on your LAN (unless i'm very much mistaken) can you see the xbox's ip in xbmc? can you ping to that ip?

switch do DHCP and see what IP it gives you. Then (Unless you HAVE to use 192.168.0.6) try that IP instead.

did you add your gateway and DNS ? .. which based on the 192.168.0.6 ip would make the gateway and DNS 192.168.0.1 ..

Your PC can't FTP to the X-Box, but it can ping it?

Sounds like a firewall issue to me.

Can your console view shares on your PC?

I have disabled the Windows Firewall and still cannot access via ftp etc
I am using ccXgui Lite Beta 1.0 to send movies from my laptop to xbmc - that still works fine.

Is there a way to reset all settings? or anything else to get ftp up and running.
Is there a way to update dashboard via CD?

cheers.

There is no auto-update via cd, but it can be done (note, you'll probably have to use cd-rqw or dvdr due to xbox dvd-rom limitations).

I would not suggest overwriting your old xbmc folder via cd. Either use another app/dash to copy the files, or do something like this:

1. Burn XBMC to cd/dvd, renaming the xbmc folder to xbmcnew.
2. Using XBMC's filemanager, copy xbmcnew from the cd into E:\Apps\ (or wherever your existing xbmc is)
3. Boot into the new xbmc by entering xbmcnew, and clicking on default.xbe. Verify everything copied and works.
4. Whilst still in the new xbmc install, rename the old xbmc folder to xbmcold.
5. Boot xbmcold by entering xbmcold, and clicking default.xbe
6. Rename xbmcnew folder to xbmc.

Do you think that will sort out this problem.

I can enter 192.168.0.6 on my web browser and get the xbmc pc front end. tried this for the first time . nice feature.

Check xbmc.log. Your DNS settings are most likely not correct anymore.

If you can access network shares on your PC, there's no need to burn a disc. Just follow smokyjoe's process using a share instead of the CD to update to the latest build.

Starting to sound like your FTP settings are corrupt. DNS shouldn't affect your ability to FTP to the console via an IP address. Either way, an XBMC update should fix the issue.
