I used the 360mods/textbook tutorial to flash my hitachi 78 drive. Everything went well, booted up slax with the drive hooked up to my pc, ejected the drive when the "spinning up disk" message appeared.

The drive shows all good signs of mode B. I then shut off the xbox, shut off the pc, power on the xbox, power on the pc and remove the slax disc before booting. The disc is now no more in mode B and thus fails to be recognized in windows. The bios only recognizes it as a CDROM/ATA100.

What am I doing wrong? Should I keep the xbox on after getting the drive in mode B and only reboot the PC?

Obviously the xbox needed to be kept powered on for the drive to remain in mode B, seems to work now.
