Microsoft now receiving 2500 broken 360s per day in UK alone?
Posted by XanTium | June 26 14:26 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From 360-gamer.com:

According to Lee Sherman (Gamertag, Toxic Daywalker), who sent us details of his horrible experience, his Xbox 360 had been sent to Prague for repair, which has extended the repair time considerably.

Lee even claims that when he asked to speak to the repair centre direct, he was told this wasn't possible because they don't have phones... However, using a directory enquiry service he was able to obtain the number for the repair centre, where he was shocked to learn that his console was actually in Prague, not Havant as Microsoft customer service reps had claimed.

Additionally, the call to the Havant repair centre revealed some other worrying stats: "A shocking statistic we found out though is that between 1,500 to 2,500 consoles get sent to Havant by three UPS lorries per day, to then be shipped to Prague for repair," Lee told us, going on to add, "[We] phoned up Nora the [customer service] supervisor again, who then admitted my console was in Prague and hadn't been looked at yet - she seemed amazed that we knew!"

Comments from users on the Xbox.com forum reveal similar woes, and some have also discovered their consoles are indeed in repair centres outside of the UK: "I just spoke to the customer support people because my 360 has been gone since the 8th of June," says forum user, LordBrown in a post dated 23rd of June. "Apparently because of the backlog in Havant they're sending 360s to repair centres outside the UK! And that because of this Microsoft are legally allowed an additional ten days to get your 360 back to you."

The XBOX 360 is by far the worst manufactured game system I have ever seen. Microsoft did a shit job in manufacturing it, I am not the least bit surprised by these statistics.

I love my XBOX 360 and all, but this is rediculous...

.......Mine still works but every day i expect it to take a huge shit......

Lol. Now that would be something I would like to see. smile.gif

This is some bad shit when they have to ship to another country in these kinds of numbers per day just to cope with the backlog of repairs.
It's gonna get to the point where folk are too scared to switch on their 360, never mind play games on it, as these things are that shoddy.

I think maybe that'll be my new mantra , I think if I say it enough I'll start to actually believe it.

My 360 never broke, but then again if it did, I'm sure theres a way to fix it that is under $140 or whatever how much it is to ship it to M$. Only thing it, M$ dosn't provide troublshooting guide for these things, and if they do, its complte BS like "check to make sure it is plugged in" or something. Only troubleshooting guide is here on xbox-scene or some other related forum/index....and thank god for them

Does Microsoft actually "fix" anything when they get these broken consoles?

OK. this is disturbing. Like someone posted, how many of these are bricked consoles due to hacking? I own TWO 360s. One PRO and one USED CORE I bought off ebay. The CORE came with no power supply or controllers. I managed to buy a used power supply off a buddy of mine and it's been running fine for 2 months.

I really find it hard to accept these stats. It's really a tragedy for all these people with bricked consoles. However, I have no sympathy if you bricked it because you were trying to flash it.

i think its something to do with the amount of time the box is used
i usually play no more than 4 hours

the last few weeks ive been playing forza and dirt for 10 hours plus

downstairs console 3 red lights
thats gone back for repair (god knows how long it will take)

the upstairs one is now downstairs and after about 8 hours playing last night
it hard locked up and graphics where fecked up slightly in the dash after a reboot

its fine now it has cooled down
but if i keep playing 10 hour sessions this is going to die to

put forza 2 on for 10-12 hours a day for the next week or two
i bet your 360 dies

these things arnt cooled enough for prolonged game sessions
