I'm reposting this here because I wasn't getting any help in the main topic area, so please don't hurt me. biggrin.gif

I added the stuff to the ini file but when I select to flash a bank, it just pops up an empty box with nothing to select. What is it supposed to do?

Where does it get the bin to flash the bank with?

I seems to work other than that. It will reboot back to the MS dash correctly.

TIA

I want to add that I tried rebooting using banks 1-3 so I could just put a CDR in the drive and have it flash bank 0, but it seems the linux bios on 1-3 are bad. I get a dim looking screen with the chameleon and it ejects the tray but never asks for the disk. One of the banks screen's is mainly just static with the chamelion tail at the bottom ehhehe.

you need a valid bios file in your c:/bios folder.

Edit: the chameleon screen is dim when booting from software as a security measure. booting from the dip switches (or power/eject) will boot the cromwell FlashBIOS fully.

I finally figured out the first part. Suprising I had not read that anywhere.

I didn't know that about the 2nd part. Thanks for the info!

Can't seem to figure this one out - probably just a missing character or something, but here goes:

I'm only able to see the Chameleon Mode 1 option (Mode 2, 3, and 4 are not displayed anywhere).

What's going on?

Skanky:

It's because it only shows the options for the mode you have your Chameleon in. So your's is in mode 1 so you only get the mode 1 options.

Hmmm.. mine is still not working.

All modes show up, but they show up red. I copied the xodus and I tried the ini posted here. No luck. I do have a valid bios file, but all menu options for all four banks are red.

this section looks like this:
CODE

Section "Chameleon Mode 1",ID_Chameleon_Mode_1

Item "Switch To TSOP (Disable Chameleon)",ID_Chameleon_Release_D0,ID_Full_Reboot

I don't think p and e matter.

I'm having the same issue with mine also. I'm wondering if somehow EvoX doesn't realize that we have a chameleon. I know you have to put in what kind of chip you have, and somebody suggested adding these two lines to the ini file:

CODE
Flash  = 0x015b,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000
Flash  = 0x01da,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000

I'm wondering if the Xodus people used more than just these when making the chameleons, and we have some sort of different chip? Maybe we need to specify what kind of chip we have, so that EvoX can figure out what chip and bios we have? I'm not sure... it just seems like EvoX does not realize that I have a chameleon. If anybody can give some more insight into this, it'd be a big help.

Also...from what I'm seeing, if we use the EvoX software control for switching between banks, and turning the chip completely off...does that pretty much negate the need to even solder the P and E points?

All I need is some clarificaiton on the BIOS's in the c:/bios folder on the xbox and what are each used for. Basically I understand the D6 for Bank 0, right? And that to do the software Chameleon disable must be in Mode 4, right?

If so, this is the part I don't understand. What bank do I flash what BIOS and doe I need to UNLOCK the harddrive as well?

I cannot find any docs that specifically address this and I am currently running on a Trial and Error mode. Maybe I deserve to be flamed if these questions have been addressed already, if that is the fact, flame away, but please add the pointer to the thread that will address my issue.

Thanks in advance.

Techmaster..

Evo-x automaticaly detects the presence of the chameleon ( please make sure u are always using the latest release of Evo-X dash !! )

you can verify the detection of the chameleon as well as it`s dip switch position (in real time) by going into the settings menu , and scrolling down .. you should come across a menu labled Chameleon .. and some figures as well as the dip settigns Evo-X is detecting..

If this section of the settings menu does not exist, either you have an older veriosn of Evo-X dash or you need to check your install of the chameleon ( bad contact tot he LPC points can sometimes cause this problem )

The lines you mentioned are onfly for flashign the chameleon and they are not needed for detecting it ..

First off I would start by updating my version of Evo-X

keep us informed

Xodus

I don't know what you have in your bios directory, but most use either EvolutionX M7 Bios or Xecutor 2 Bios. They do basically the same. Xecutor 2 allows in game reboots while the EvolutionX requires the dashboard to do in game reboots. I personally use Xecutor 2 4766.

I use mode 1 so that I have 4 banks of 256k. You can disable the bios in this mode. bank 0-xecutor, bank 1-evolution, bank 2-cromwell, bank 3-cromwell.

You use configmagic to unlock your hard drive. Or the newest EvolutionX Dashboard Beta Build 3921 can do it. But I've only used configmagic.

As long as you have one of the bios listed above loaded you should be able to unlock the hard drvie.
