FASA Studio manager Mitch Gitelman has confirmed that that the Shadowrun developer is to close, following months of rumours to that effect, with today being the last day of employment for those not reassigned within Microsoft Game Studios.

Did that they make that company just to make shadowrun, or did they go bankrupt cos shadowrun sucks?

2 perfectly viable options.

Does that mean no more Shadowrun patches, or any possibilities of expansions, maps, etc?

The name put me compltely off it. As bad as that is to judge a game by its name, it is a poor game title laugh.gif

Shadowrun is not a new name, it's been a board RPG for quite a while. they tried to port it but ended up doing a shooter instead...

I like the fact that they stated they didn't want to "upset" people by telling them this information when they knew while making Shadowrun.

In other words, buy our ripoff $70 game that is lacking maps and MP only while we promise more content, and then we bail on you for good. dry.gif

I almost bought this game and thought about it recently when it price dropped to $40, but now with Halo 3 on the horizon, no thanks.

Mechwarrior was decent, however Shadowrun was raped by the first-person shooter craze Microsoft is currently going through. When I heard Shadowrun, I was expecting a game adaptation of the kick-ass pen & paper cyberpunk RPG that I knew & loved... not a multiplayer-only arena-style first-person shooter with magic.

In my opinion, the game was a travesty only equaled by the Super Mario Bros Movie. Not because it was really bad, but because it could have been really good, and wasn't. By the way, the Mechwarrior license wasn't tied to FASA, I don't remember who, but somebody still very much alive has the rights. Whether that's going to spawn in the form of a game though, I couldn't tell you.
