Some Gamers Plan to be 'Halo' Sick
Posted by XanTium | September 24 22:42 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From usatoday.com:

For Microsoft Xbox 360 owners, Tuesday is Opening Day -- the time to skip school, call in sick or take a vacation day for the big game.

"I've already talked to my teachers and got my assignments for Tuesday. I don't plan on going to class," says Dane Mitchell, 20, a Cincinnati State and Community College sophomore.
"I'm going to pick up the game at midnight from GameStop, go to a friend's house, and play it for 36 hours," he says. "That's what we did before, when Halo 2 came out, my senior year in high school. I can't believe my parents let me skip school to play it."

"At my school, at least 50 kids are getting it at the midnight release," says Sean Faust, 17, a high school senior from Alexandria, Ky.
"I'm not going to lie. I know about 15 kids who are going to skip school Tuesday, maybe even myself," Faust says. He'll nap 3-11 p.m. Monday, buy his copy at midnight and play until dawn -- or much later.

University of Cincinnati marketing major Dave Durham predicts that "about 25% of the students won't be in class on Tuesday" because of the Xbox factor.

Will you call in sick from school/work? We won't call your boss/teacher ;)

Since I've already played it, tomorrow doesn't seem very special. I'm not missing anything because of it. smile.gif

I'll think I'll be calling in sick to work for a day or two, severe case of gamer thumb.

Yeah brother already has the game because apparently he has hookups, and I know he didn't pirate it cause he isn't that technical. Too bad I'm at school and have no 360 of my own, yet. Maybe tomorrow I'll pick them both up.

Ha, I wish. I probably know about 10 kids who're going to skip, but I'm not. Damn AP classes... tongue.gif

I'll probably play for 7 hours straight AFTER school, but not during. sad.gif

I'm gonna get mine before I go into work tomorrow.

Can't call in cos the boss is out for the week and I have to babysit the newbies at my job.

I'm pretty excited, but I can wait a few more hours smile.gif

My computer science teacher told us on the first day of class that we would not be meeting on sept. 25th because he would be at home playing Halo. What sucks for me is I also have linear algebra so I have to go, and since I ride a 1/2 hour bus in the morning I have to go to school all day anyways. =/
