with orange box I often got some "darkening" going on... as if maybe the screen saver was kicking in to dim the screen... I figured it might be the game.... no other game has ever done it.

now assassins creed is doing it... seemingly at random angles, nothing linked to luminance that I can see... just random..

anyone else seen this?

I get the same thing. On Orange Box its usually right after a section loads, its way darker than it was just before the loading icon. And Assassin's Creed, it is seemingly random, but compared to graphical problems reported on the PS3 version, it seems pretty minor.
