Is it possible that I can use regular 3mm high bright led's instead of the surface mount leds that are around the quadrant on a wireless controller?

Reason I ask is I want to make an arcade stick with a wireless pad and want to use regular 4 3mm led's to show each part of the quadrant.

Do I need any resistors? Any help would be great pop.gif

*No need for resistors.
You need to consider any problems you might run into trying to place the LEDs so that they illuminate the ROL efficiently.

*But in terms of compatibility: Yes the 3mm LEDs will work in place of the SMD LEDs. But they may not be as bright as you want them to be. Get them close enough to the clear plastic so that they will transmit their light, and you shouldn't see much loss of brightness worth complaining about.

Thanks for the reply,

I'm not too worried if they aren't as bright as they normally would be, just as long as they work and won't blow the controller up. tongue.gif
