did you put that on top of the heat sink if not its kinda pointless and is probably hindering flow instead of helping wink.gif

Stuck in between the mobo and the dvd drive, it's probably gasping for air and then has to work hard to push it at the mobo directly below it and out of the way. Without it sucking cold air in from another part of the case or outside of the case, I don't see it really helping wink.gif .

That's probably the worst cooling mod ever, it's essentially doing nothing. If you want to substantially cool down the GPU heatsink (with fans), then the DVD-ROM needs to come out.

step 1. Get the new falcon style GPU heatsink

step 2. Put that fan on top of the heatsink extension.

I would expect that to make a significant difference in cooling.

It does, but you don't need a falcon. As far as I can tell, the GPU heatsinks on the zephyr and falcon mobos seem to get just as hot.

yeah I guess the zephyr also had the new heatsinks, I've heard they put them in refurb'ed xenons too.
