I just got my xbox 360 back from microsoft for the red ring of death. They did a repair on the same unit. Did not get a refurb. unit back. In which I'm glad because I kept my toshiba drive. But has anyone did a x-clamp on a new box 360 or a repaired one to prevent the 3 red lights again. They did install the new GPU and I am going to do the 12 volt mod on the GPU Fan only. Thanks cool.gif

I concur. Keep it closed for now, the reliability isn't there to be sure that it will be a sure fix.

Or....You could just man up and X-Clamp it and never have to
even worry about the RROD for good.

replace x-clamps < warranty

I opened mine a few months after purchase and made some Mods and upgrades to it. And yes, I got the 3RLOD after 1 year of having it. I carried out the X-Clamp replacement and applied some new Arctic paste etc and have had no problems now for around 3-4 months. If you have a warranty then don't open your console, just let Microsoft carry out the repairs. Or if your like me and don't like there slow ass shitty service, then carry out all repairs yourself for a very little price.
