So I have done all the cooling mods: new rear fans, added front fan, ram heatsinks, shroud mod, arctic 5, x-clamp, cut out rear mesh, not using a case. I just put my system back together yesterday and it worked right away. after a few hours though I got 3rrod again. So I overheated the gpu since I hadn't done that yet since all the mods, and it worked again through the night and some today. Then I got 3rrod again today. I'm not sure what's up.

I'm thinking I might have tightened the bolts too much on the heatsinks, but that's all I can think of. I'm considering just buying this fan and setting it on top of my gpu heatsink, just lifting my dvd drive off to the side.

Any ideas on what's going on? I'll post some pics later

Okay, so I am still having issues with my 360. Like said above I have done most of the cooling mods to no avail. I am using the unit with no case, sitting 4ish inches off the table, the dvd drive pulled out so I can have a fan on top of the GPU, have my front header fan blowing directly into the CPU. I am still getting 3RROD. I overheated the system for 15 minutes yesterday, let it cool off and played for a few hours no problem. I went to turn it on today and it was 3RROD again. Really not sure what to do.

Why would it work for a few hours without issue, then not work the next time? And I know the CPU and GPU have the same heatsink holes, could I buy another CPU heatsink and attach it to the GPU since hight is not an issue? Does it do a better job of cooling?

well to learn the answers to those questions all you do is a little thing called a search.

Search for the xclamp mod that should sort it.
