I am thinking about installing a small fan through the side vent (right side when laid horizontally).

1) What is the maximum size fan I can fit through this side vent if I placed it on the inside?

2) Would having this fan sucking air into the xbox draw in a lot of dust and other particles?

Thanks.

I did this with my 360
1) The maximum size of the fan is 7cm, the xcm fans fit perfectly...

2) I cut a hole into the case right above it to make it suck air into and it massively decreased the temperature of the cpu heatsink and yes it draws in a bit more dust....

i think he means through the actual grill on the bottom of the case the grey part right?

i put a fan in there and in order to put any kind of fan there you have to relocate a capacitor or 2 depending on what size fan you go with.

i relocated 1 capacitor and just put in a 12v 40mm fan and it worked decent and yea it sucks in a little dust but not much

the max i think you could fit on that side would be a 60-70mm fan with the relocation of a couple capacitors

Yea, I meant the plastic grey grill piece on the side/bottom, depending on how the position the xbox.

I was planning on running a 60mm fan at 7V. Isn't there a 12V and 5V supply on the top of the mobo nearby to create the 7V?

I have a 60mm fan with two wires. How would I wire the fan to get 7V?

if you go to the pinned tutorials and look at the one that has all the power sources of the board highlighted it shouldnt be hard

in order to get 7v use 12v as positive and 5v as ground

and to put a 60mm i think you need to relocate 2 capacitors

What I do is just take the grey cover off and just duct tape a 80mm computer case fan onto the side. Fits pretty well. And I run it off of an external 12v supply.
