Hey Ive got a d2b and I installed a wiikey without soldering to any of the pins. I read that d2b drives didnt have the #3 point to solder to but mine did. However now that it is installed, backups dont read and neither do firmware upgrades with gcos multiloader on +/-r DVD's, they start to spin and then stop. Original games do work. Take a look at my board and please give me some advice. Should I solder to the d2b chip ic pin? (None of them are touching its hard to see that.)

Im yet to install one of these babys....

From what ive read and looking at your pic, i wouldve used wire rather then dolops of solder.

You were right. I re-soldered it with wire and it worked the first time.

np's dude

soldering those things in can be a bit messy as u have to drop a big dolope of solder...wires are so much easier

enjoy

wires are always best just incase you install a bad chip or it just needs to come back out again
