Hi, I'm working on editing Project Mayhem 3, but I can't figure out how to change the pictures on the main menu. I don't know what format they're in or anything. Can't find them ANYWHERE in any XBMC folder.

Like the picture of this girl for example:

IPB Image

I want it to be a picture of my girlfriend instead, personally.

Please help?

if you go into the pmIII skin folder and than into its media folder you need to unzip the textures.xpr file, with some program like the xpr extractor program on blackbolts website, and then just replace the pictures you want with your own, that are in png... keeping the file name the same.

Ha ha ha...
About a year ago I came here asking the exactly same question:
- How to replace the unknown girl from PM3 menu with a picture of my girlfriend...

But it's not that simple.

You will need to go the the PM3 SVN repository URL and gather 100% of
the skin files (they are fully available there).

After downloading them, you need to replace all the images you want
and then BUILD a BRAND NEW textures.xpr using XBMCTEX.EXE.

Only after that you will have a custom PM3 skin.

I am a bit busy now and I can't give you all the complete directions
to do that, but this is the way. Since I did learn everything FROM SCRATCH
by my very ownself, I think you will able to do the same.

Just read the forum, everything is here.
Also, check my previous posts, and check posts about XBMCTEX.EXE.

Regards,
Cospefogo.

Actually, it was. I just downloaded Blackbolt's XPR Express program and used that to unpack the textures.xpr file, change the files, and repack it.

Progress I've made: http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=648993

Still need to do a lot of photography. That picture of my girlfriend just isn't good enough lol.

You should try the program out. It makes everything a breeze. It's here: http://blackbolt.x-scene.com/?p=tools

Anyway, thanks for the heads up, man. Who the hell is the girl in the picture anyway? Does she KNOW she's the XBMC girl? I think I might make a thread about this...

I've never tried it, but I'd be willing to bet the picture you used was sized wrong, so it got distorted to fit.

The same thing happened to some of my new icons the first time I tried it.

The fix (if you're using XPR Express) is to turn the compression quality all the way up. I'm not sure if it's even compressed at all when it's set like that, but it only makes a 2 MB difference anyway. And turn off the locking or copyrighting option too. That way you can reopen it and edit it without it saying "Sorry, you made this skin, but now I'm not going to let you fix your mistakes because you specifically told me to make sure NO ONE can extract anything from this XPR file."

It doesn't say that exactly, but that's the message it tries to convey.

Anyway, good luck. I think we should start sharing some of our PM3 edits, eh?

Even better. What are you doing to it?

And you're welcome.

Well...
Good news for me.
Last time I tried one of these EXPRESS XPR editors simply I was not able
to edit or extract or reconstruct anything. Then I went through the very scratch
method, building my XPR right from the source.

Well, thanks for the tip.
I will try this tool next time I need to work on a skin...
But I think it will not be so soon, since my custom xTV is perfectly adjusted to
my taste a this moment.

Best regards,
and good editing!

Cospefogo.
