i just replaced my xbox 360 hitachi drive with a new one and now it seems to be slowly scratching my discs. the scraches seem light and all over. what is causing these scratches and is there away to fix this. I'm not scared to take my drive xbox apart piece by piece.

have you tried other discs and did you read the faq cause this topic may get closed. But, its kinda funny you say that, cause my halo 3 disc seems to slowly be getting a perfect ring surface scratch around the disc, but my other dvds aren't doing that at all its kinda weird. I guess I'm gonna play around with it somemore heh.

yes I did read faq and it said things that I already know but didn't say what is could be causing my disc to scratch and how to fix it after i ruled out the basic reasons a disc would scratch. I used pocket bike racer as a test game let it run for an hour and still got scratches on the disc. I just wanted to know what to adjust in the dvd rom to prevent more further disc scratching.

I know it has something to do with not all xbox 360 dvd-rom drives coming with foam rubber pads on the laser lens to protect against scratching if anything I would have recommended to send it back to microsoft before opening it not sure what to tell ya there.
