Wtf It wouldn't let me edit. And you deleted the post that actually mattered. Lol...here it is...

Ok so I was just playing and my 360 shut off. I mean, the middle light was still on but the DVD-drive shut off and so did the fans. The picture went out also. Anyone have this happen to them? If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it!

In the systems panel, do you have the shutdown settings set to "background downloads"? If you do, you were downloading something, so the xbox went into an "energy save" mode, so only the network/ethernet is still functioning. To turn it off, just press the power button again.

Check the power supply light. It will be red if something is wrong. It should be green when you turn the 360 on. My psu has recently started acting up and shows a red light. It has only done it twice though, hope it doesn't again.

Update: It will stay on for about 5 seconds with the power light GREEN. Then when everything shuts off (besides the middle light on ROL), The light turns ORANGE. (the picture still goes out too.)

Any advice?

uh, you dont have to take apart an xbox to swap a PSU. the PSU is the grey box that plugs into the wall, and then into the back of the xbox

lol i know...thanks.ill try that...and if that doesnt work, ill try new thermal compound, then if none of that works, ill either buy a new gpu or a new xbox (probably one that has the 3ROD error) and fix it...not sure yet though...

wish me luck.

New Update: Took it down to my brothers and used his PSU, same problem. So the PSU is ruled out. Now the thermal compound.

Let me know if you guys have any ideas of what it could be.

Update!!!!

Well Since doing the ROL LED swap, I didnt put in Bicolor SMTs so I had to do Sicknasty's Tutorial. And after having a son of an xbox time, i got the last one in. So now i can check the error code.

When i booted it up, it ran for about 5 seconds (like "normal") and the two left quadrants (1st and 3rd players) began to blink BLUE (had to use blue because i didn't have red SMTs.)

I checked on Lamma's Error Codes and couldn't understand how to get the codes...so what do i do now? Anyone have this problem before? :]

FIXED!: All i did was clean off the heatsinks and chips, applied new thermal compound (Arctic Silver 5), and put that baby back together and I played for about 30 minutes with no problem...

Gonna do a little more 'cooling mods', LEDs, and put it back together.

You can close if you'd like. tongue.gif
