hi, so the deal is that where i want to set up my xbox and pc there isn't an internet connection. This obviously eliminates a lot of the possibilities i'm familiar with (i've set up several networks and box before through routers). Basically the end goal is to stream videos that are on the pc through the xbox. Yes i could just put a bigger HD in the xbox and transfer over files but i'd prefer (if its possible) some sort of network option.

I was hoping, although have been unsuccessful that i could use a crossover cable and set up some sort of direct connection. It looks like an internet connection is a must for it to work.

if you have any ideas or knowledge that it for sure can't be done without some sort of internet service let me know, thanks...

Use the crossover cable and manually set the IP addresses of both machines. Make sure the subnet and domain are the same but the IPs are different.

Should work.
