I bought a pre-flash Kreon drive on eBay...it's the SH-D162C

I stick it in my computer, but nothing happens...it doesn't read it...I've tried installing drivers and all that jazz.

Now what sad.gif

I have an eMachines AMD 3400+ 1 GB ram 200 GB hard drive (20GB free) ...a DVD DL burner and used to have CD ROM drive, but that's gone for the Kreon drive. Also, 6800GS if it matters...

is the drive doing anything? does hitting eject make the tray come out? (to prove that the drive has power). also, is windows detecting it? and there shouldn't be any drivers needed for it.

have you checked the jumpers on the drive to make sure that you don't have multiple master drives? (although this would make it so neither of your rom drives work if that was the case)

I have no idea about master drives and all that. I have one hard drive in my computer, a DVD burner and this DVD ROM Kreon drive. They are all connected via IDE. I didn't think this would be difficult at all because before I had a CD ROM drive instead of the Kreon drive...so I thought I could just swap them and Windows would recognize.

The power works, it ejects when I push the button. If I put a DVD in it though, my computer freezes.

AIM: chewbacca3690 if you could try to give me some quick help

Connect your new drive to your computer on its own IDE cable. If you have one for your HDD and one for your DVD burner, remove the cable from your burner so you only have it connected to your new drive.

Power it on like this and see what happens.

BTW, the eject button is a hardware function and just proves the drive's components are working.

Okay I got the drive working. I had to switch a cap on the back to make it recognize it as a slave drive instead of a master drive.

But now I pop in Oblivion and go to xbox backup creator and it reads 6.87GB (7,206,916bytes). Is this the full disc? Am I good to go and ISO/burn?

Okay, before I burn, I just want to double check. I ran XBC and it made the Oblivion iso in TWO seconds. The iso is 6.87 GB. Is this all good? I thought the games were 7.29GB, why isn't this one?

Yeah...thanks, sorry I just feel a little uneasy. (and I only have one DL disc...)

AH HA!

I re-read everything. It is reading Oblivion as a 6.87 MB game. WTF

That was what happened when I had "current partition" selected. Now I select "Complete Backup" and it is making a 7.3GB iso. Is this right?

Okay so I changed the setting to "Complete Backup" and it made a 7.29GB iso and a small DVD file. I'm gonna burn the DVD file...I feel confident now.

What type of media are you using?

Make sure you use Verbatim Dvd-r DL for all 360 games.

PS use imgburn to burn the games, its the best...just open the .dvd file with imgburn and burn at 2.4x.

Okay, I guess I will try that as soon as I get some more DVD's...

PS, it was a Verbatim DVD+R DL, made in Singapore. The only thing else I can think of is that the DVD is like...quite a few years old, so it might not be the quality of today.

Whats your dvd burners model number?<nevermind saw it in the dvd burn report>

I recommend DVD-r Dl media but thats only because I use that and know it works, The +R media might Work Idk.

HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B is what it says in my device manager. Just an older DVD DL burner that came in the computer from Best Buy. :-/ will this be good enough with the right media?

Looks like It, it burns Dvd+R Dl but i havent seen if it burns DVD-R dl, that might not be needed tho.

Try downloading IMGburn and go to Drive capabilities that will tell you everything IT can do.

I havent seen anybody say you NEED dvd-r dl for 360 games so THe +R should be fine I geuss.
