im sure this is still no, but is there any way to recover the dvd key from the mobo?? i picked up a 360 off craigslist that "wouldnt read disks". i figured it was a bad laser, turns out, it reads the disk, but it comes up with the same video when you put the 360 disk in a home dvd player. i read on a post that was from like 2 years ago, that someone said theres no way to recover a lost key YET.... im just wondering if that still stands. like, no way of encoding the key from the serial number or anything like that??

There is no way to get the key from the motherboard.

Your only option is to contact the seller and see if he has a backup of the original firmware or drive key.
