Hello,

The old drive of my TS-H943 ms28 died. Luckily I made a backup of the original firmware.
I bought the same drive and followed the following steps.

1. Took the ORIG.BIN of my flash drive onto my Samsung iXtreme 1.4\8x folder
2. clicked "Make iXtreme firmware". That went well.
3. I've put the created ix14.bin back to my flash drive (was made with iPrep btw)
4. flashed the drive using the following command: mtkflash w /m /sata ix14.bin. This went well

However, when I insert a game it says To play this disk, put it in an xbox 360 console.
Dvds work fine, games give the error I described above.

What did I do wrong?

Regards,

Dennis

Check the firmware version on the sticker. The new drive may be the same model but could be the MS25 firmware. If that's the case then you may need to spoof the firmware as MS28 and re-flash.

I may be wrong.

Hey,

I've figured it out myself 30 mins after I posted the question, I was getting pretty desperate to fix it.
Anyway, I cleared up my head and used Maximus Firmware Toolbox to put the key in it. It also spoofed the firmware correctly. I flashed it and voila, the xbox is working again!

Anyway, thanks for your reply. I'm glad I got it fixed smile.gif

Regards,

Dennis

I dunno. All I do know is that its currently working. It could be that the original (broken) drive was a ms25, I can't remember if I had spoofed it to ms28. I know that the drive I bought was definitely a ms28.

It might have been easier just swap to the driveboards over...

Might have been, but the old one had problems reading discs. So I chose the safe for the unsafe and used the entire drive.

Problems reading disks would have been due to the laser.
