ok so one of my mates was messing about with my modded xbox & now the hdd is unlocked & it wont play any games, so how can i relock it ?

If you are soft modded you will need to lock it with the eeprom on the PC. Usually you will use Xboxhdm for that.

If you are chipped or TSOP flashed you can use Slayer's to lock it.

If you don't have the eeprom on the PC you will need to build an eeprom reader or use a solderless chip to gain access.

iv opened her up but although i cant see a chip, however when iv looked in XBMC before it says that there is one. but 2bh i had it given to me so i duno if its soft modded or chipped.

I assume by "won't play any games" you mean "gives an error 05 screen when I turn it on".

In which case it doesn't matter in the slightest whether it's chipped or softmodded, you need to make the EEPROM reader regardless.

Though typically installing a modchip is also a valid fix.
