maybe its a bug in the app? so you cant reflash it coz its i.d doesnt say same anymore i guess, could you hotswap flash it! i've seen it work but i dont know if it was a hitachi or a sammy?or maybe its a confilct with another device, i had a problem and everytime i plugged any extra drive it always said it was a cd-rom, it didnt matter if was on ide or sata or if it was hd,dvd, blu ray , i didnt know enough then so my mate fixed it, i think he said device number assigning!but i'm not sure, hope i was some help, hope you manage to bring it back to life!

I've got the same problem.
Spoofed an Hitachi v59 to be a Lite-On, but something went wrong.
Now I want to try and do it right, but it's impossible to get the drive be regognised in Windows.
It reacts as in mode B, but extractor says it's Lite On.... huh.gif
Any help would be appriciated!!

I have been able to un-spoof Hatachis. All versions.

If you are having trouble getting them into ModeB use podgers mode b tool. Worked on 78 that was no longer recognized by slax because of the spoof.
Once you are in mode B use Firmware Tool Box to dump or reflash.

It will depend on how badly wrong the spoof is... If it is spoofed correctly, both inquiry and Identify, even then Slax will only touch it if it reports as as Hitachi GDR3120..... If the spoof is wrong and it doesn't report a valid ID string the FWTB won't touch it and you will have to do it old school with 46flash, 47flash, 59flash or with flashsec79... Bu this is not for the faint hearted....

can you give more details, of what it is you have done.... may be pm the the bin file you flashed to the drive... also the model of the h/w would be useful ;-)
