Hello, I've for UnleashX, on which I use XBMC to stream movies from my computer. When I'm finished watched watching movies, theres nothing worse than having to get out of bed to switch the computer off, so is there any way of using UnleashX or XBMC to switch off the computer remotely?

Thanks!

could always just leave it on.

or have a batch file run a shutdown on a schedule at a time that you know you will be passed out just so you know its being powered off every night.

Yup, this is what I do at the moment, use the Task Scheduler to run a .bat shutdown file.
But I'd rather shut it down when i'm finished watching movies, as I'm not sure how many I'm going to watch etc...

Reckon there is a way to run a .bat file on my comp using UX or XBMC?

Thanks!

P.S. I've just realised how bad my grammar is!! blink.gif

there are 2 ways to do what you are asking

1 is if you have web server enabled in XBMC then in a web browser type in your xboxs ip address it should then have an option to shut down the xbox

2 if you have a chip installed or if you can flash the tsop with the ind-bios it has a button shortcut (white+back) to shut down the xbox

those are the only 2 that i know of

you could put together a file so that if your computer recognises a ip disconnection it will run the power down script. idk if you can do that though but ill look into it and let you know.

I'm not sure if this will work but I know it does for xbox to xbox access windows via Unleashx FTP mode in the file browser and find shutdown and press A on it. Like I said I'm not sure if it will work with windows but its worth a shot

I use an iPhone or iPod Touch as an XBMC Remote and for controlling my Macs.

It should be possible to do the same with a Windows Box as long as you have wifi.
The paid XBMC Remote allows for a shutdown button for the xbox, I am sure there must be remote apps that allow for similar functionality over vnc
