I've softmodded my Xbox, and I'd like to stop it from automatically loading the disc in the drive when the Xbox is powered on. I know this is dangerous because it makes it difficult for future recovery, but I'm ok with that. So I have two questions:

Do I have to edit/replace the BIOS to stop the disc from autorunning?

Can the BIOS be replaced on a softmodded Xbox without any changes to the hardware?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. I've tried to search the forums for explicit answers on my own, but I'm just too much of a n00b to figure it out.

You can't. The standard MS-BIOS checks for a disc in the drive automatically before the softmod kicks in.

You can't replace the MS-BIOS on a softmod.

If you want that level of control you need to chip or TSOP flash your Xbox.

Thank you for the quick reply - that's exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. I'll probably just live with it, then. Thanks again for your help.
