I recently received an xbox from a friend of mine who bought it at Goodwill. He no longer wanted it so he gave it to me. I wanted to put a larger hard drive in it and when I opened it I saw it has an "Xecuter 2 - Xkiller" bios in it. I bought a 250GB drive, but it won't see all of it.

I used NewHDEvox1.4 to prepare the drive. I don't think that is the problem, from what I've read, I think it's the BIOS (it only formatted F to 123GB). When I tried to use Evox to flash it, I'm told:

Manufactures ID 09 Device ID 00
!! Flash Not Writable !!

Any ideas how I can flash this so it will see my who drive? If I can't, is there a problem with leaving the bigger drive in it (I really don't want to buy yet another hard drive).

Thanks for your help!

Here's my Evox.ini

The rest of the space is in the G partition. Use XBPartitioner 1.1 to format the G partition (partition 7).

When I loaded XBPartitioner1.1 it said that my Bios did support LBA mode and any changes I made would not be recognized. What's interesting...it didn't even see the F: drive. Could I have done something wrong?

Oh, I forgot to add before...I ran (I don't remember the name of it) a Bios checker and it said the xbox was running "Chip: LPC (SST 49LF020) Bios: Xecuter2 4974

Yep - that BIOS doesn't support large drives!

Your Evox.ini doesn't contain an entry for flashing your chip - that's probably why you're getting the error. The entry in my evox.ini for the SST 49LF020 is:

Flash = 0xbf61,"SST 49LF020",0x40000

.... but I've never tried it - I don't have a SST 49LF020 chip!!!!

If you do decide to try it you'll need to put your new BIOS in the BIOS directory under your Evox dash directory.

In terms of BIOS, you'll need a 256k BIOS - have a look at iND-BIOS.5003, X2.4981, and Evox M8+. Apart from the large disk support (all F, or F and G), everything else in iND-BIOS can be configured from a text file. For the other two you need to edit the BIOS file before you flash it, to tell it where to load your dashboard from, etc. You use EvTool 1.09 to edit the Evox BIOS, and XBTool 1.0.23 for the X2 BIOS.

Wow! This worked like a champ. biggrin.gif I had to use Slayer's install program to format the drives, but I eventually got everything working just the way I wanted.

Thanks for your help!
