Modchips are useless, Flashing is FAR more simpler, cheaper and work perfectly. Only reason to go modchip is to tell your friends how you wasted your money.

A modchip is hardware physically installed to the motherboard. While flashing just means softmodding the drive by using software & hooking it up to the PC. A modchip IMO isn't the route to take for playing backup games. It cost much more & has no real advantages over softmodding the drive. The only real advantage of a modchip may be not having to reflash the drive every time a new firmware is released. Thanks!

Also the chip wont work on any of the newer Liteon drives.

And it does not go on the motherboard, It goes on the dvd drives pcb board.

Thanks everyone.

This post has brought me on to my second question...

I bought an elite the other day, only to find it is a Lite-On DG16D2S. I've found many conflicting tutorials on how to do a number of different things (extract key, flash, dump etc) and since I'm a newbie they're confusing me somewhat.

Can anyone point me in exactly the right direction to play backup games. I am intending on modding the Xbox myself.

Thanks.

Sorry! I mis-stated motherboard because I had recent motherboard problems on a work PC. Just a mistake! Thanks!
