I almost sure I know what the problem is but I just want someone with more expertise than myself to say it.

My uncle's laptop needed a clean format. Its about 6 years old. So I gave it a quick format and reinstalled XP. Two days later he got a BSOD. I tried a slow format and it took about an hour to get to 12%. It just stopped there and didn't go further.

Can someone confirm that the hard drive is on its way out? I hear no funny clicks or anything out of the ordinary. I just don't want to spend 50 bucks if I don't have to on this.
