I did have two xbox's with error 5 and an error 6. I fixed those thankfully, and used the MechAssault save game exploit, and then "Krayzie Ndure Installer v1.1". After uploading the dashboard to Evox on the E drive. I am still able to access MS Dash on C drive. My problem is I cannot FTP on one of the boxes like I was able to the other xbox.

I'm using the same cable to attempt to FTP. I have changed evox.ini file in E:/ folder in the network settings to the appropriate DHCP settings to match my router. The cable from my router to xbox is a crossover, custom built cable. It works with my other xbox.
I'm using CuteFTP as my PC application to send and receive files through FTP. I'm also running Windows 7, which is much like Vista (64 bit) GUI.
I ran the box with the case open and the orange and green led's are on like normal from the inside of the case, near the network adapter on the motherboard (behind DVD). That appears to be fine and my evox.ini file is setup to my DHCP settings and accept FTP.

On the xbox that does FTP, I am only able to FTP a couple files at a time or I get a ERROR:

ERROR:> [4/1/2009 5:14:23 PM] Can't write to data socket. Socket error = #10053.
[4/1/2009 5:14:23 PM] 426 Connection closed , file opening failed.
ERROR:> [4/1/2009 5:14:23 PM] Connection closed; transfer aborted.

I read somewhere if this error occurs to force the type to PASSIVE. Although trying to do this to passive, I can't even connect. Any thoughts about this crud?

Krayzie Ndure Installer v1.1 IS a gamesave installer, so I'm not sure which one you used first, or what your system now looks like........ or why you had to "upload the dashboard to Evox on the E drive" - Krayzie installs the hacked dash in E:\Dashboard\ and the stock C dash at C:\xboxdash.xbe.

Not that it really matters. Evox doesn't support passive ftp, so run UnleashX (as an app or as a replacement dash) and try the ftp again.

OK so I used my auto installer disc to install UnleashX as an application. My ip is correct and tried to FTP again and still no connection with this box. I even tried "start FTP" in the UnleashX dash, then connecting with CuteFTP and still no connection. I don't get it.

Although this does seem to work better FTP work the xbox that does FTP with EvoX. Using UnleashX dashboard FTP Start, then Connect CuteFTP as PASSIVE, and it runs smoother! How did you know about that??

Can you ping the Xbox?

You can tell that Evox doesn't support passive ftp by looking at the console logs, and experimenting with different settings and different dashes and clients - and when you do that the ftp connect sequence clearly shows Evox not supporting a passive ftp connection (PASV). And I know about passive ftp running quicker through some PC firewalls because I've been building networks for a long time - although in this case it's just as likely to be the fact that the UnleashX ftp server is newer and quicker.

You don't need to start the UnleashX ftp service - it starts automatically when the dash boots.

okay I would think that you wouldn't need to click start FTP. What's weird is, when I try to FTP upload to xbox on the UnleashX dashboard, I get a message on my FTP client that it was "forcefully blocked" until I go to (in dash) settings>misc>StartFTP.

I was able to ping my xbox which still does not FTP.
Other than the evox.ini file, what else should I check my DHCP settings?

Looks like you've got the wrong user name or password. Defaults are xbox/xbox.

yeah i forgot to tell you that's why it's funny, because that is what I was logging in as. It works one second, and the next it automatically disconnects itself. also when transfering multiple files, I find myself renaming a lot of them because the file name is too long and it stops the whole process. How do you handle your file name too long errors? I'm using CuteFTP. Is there something in the preferences I can change to automatically rename something to fit? I have no clue how many characters are maximum when dealing with xbox files...

The FATX limit is 42 characters in total, with no Unicode support. If you use XBMC as your ftp server it will automatically rename the files if the names are too long or if they contain illegal characters.
