Hello!
If i understand correctly, using xbpartitioner you are able to unlock an extra 2 gigs of space on a 'stock' seagate HDD that comes with the xbox.

Can anyone explain how to do this without screwing up my xbox? (I've messed up one xbox before)
oh and by the way it's only a softmod.

bombloke come to my rescue!

Basically the space is "locked" because it isn't assigned to any partition yet. Typically you'll create an F partition and dump it all in that.

XBPartitioner has documention explaining how to format one partition at a time (F = the first extended partition). Given that I couldn't explain the process to you without refreshing my memory by reading it's documentation... It might be easier for you to just read that yourself. wink.gif

However, EvoX and UnleashX typically have menu options for creating an F partition via a single button press. If you've got one of those dashes setup somewhere on your system, check those out.

(XBPartitioner is a must for partitions over 256gb, but the EvoX/UnleashX formatters are fine for this).

hmm...ok so when you say evox are you talking about the dashboard or the softmod - ? When i boot my softmod and i go to settings>storage it says:
Enable Drive F: Yes
Enable Drive G: Yes

When it gives the drive info it says:

Drive E 4,88.63 MB/ 2,928.02 MB
Drive F 0.00 MB/0.00 MB

0mb divided by 0mb makes me believe it's not partitioned. And since i just tried to add a rom to the f drive by ftp and didn't work, it seems i'm missing something.

Could you point me in the direction of where to find the 'documentation' of the xbpartitioner. I never knew it had instructions...

OR

Just walk me through the evox partition.
Thanks!

There is no EvoX "softmod". There is a dashboard (software that the console runs off the HDD), and a BIOS (which is booted from the TSOP chip on your motherboard, or from a modchip).

A softmod is used to boot your dashboard. It runs automatically when you turn the console on for about two seconds (if that) before the dash starts.

The documentation for XBP is included with XBP.

If your copy of EvoX/UnleashX has a "Format F" menu option, then that's what it'll be labeled as. You just browse the menu in front of you, and if you can find it, well and good, and if you can't... then it likely isn't there.

Since most Evox menus don't come with an option to format the drive from the menu it would be easier to install Xbpartitioner and use it to format the F drive. Load it up and it should be the only one in the bottom screen. DO NOT mess with the drives in the upper screen or you will kill your Xbox.

The upper right hand corner should say format. If not, I think it is the white button that makes changes. It is very easy to work with. There is a note at the bottom helping you out.

sorry guys i guess i know nothing about this.
More help please...
I'm very visual, so perhaps help from some screen shots will help in guiding me:
here is the instructions:
http://biohazard.fre.../bh/xbphelp.jpg

The screen your speaking of looks like this:
http://www.tdubel.co...ner/format1.jpg
(this is not a screen shot of mine)

Now mine looks the same except where the size of the partitions are given
Mine says:

Standard Partitions
1).......4882.84 MB
2).......500.00 MB
3).......750.00 MB
4).......750.00 MB
5).......750.00 MB

Extended Partitions
6).......1.86 GB

#6 is the only one that's highlighted from the extended menu...
I'm guessing this is the one i need to 'unlock'
when i scroll through the options pressing the 'white' button i get this:

Press Start to format current partition
Press Start write table and format
Press Start to write parition table

I've pressed all of them but when in evox system settings it still says F has 0 mb free?

Don't know what to do now...

Thanks for your patience guys! please help solve this thread

oops i think i figured it out:

the first option the partitioner will come up with will be

Press Start write table and format

Press Start to write parition table

Press Start to format current partition

just do what it says in those steps and it worked...!!!

Now is there a way i can combine the 3 on the E and the 2 gigs on the f together?
I want to play splinter cell chaos theory its a dvd9 and is like 4.5 GB...

Thanks!

You really can't combine the E and F drive. It isn't safe, from everything I have read to try to reduce the size of the E drive and try adding it to F.

If you are having problems with disk size it is time to play the original or upgrade to a larger hd.

QUESTION:
So supposedly the seagate has 10 gigs of space on it right?
Well how come i can only count around 7? and that's rounding up.
on a freshly modded xbox we have for the drives:

C: 125 MB
D: - dvd
E: 4,694 MB
F: 1,907 MB
= under 7 gigs

H: 8,848 KB
X: 749 MB
Y: 749 MB
Z: 749 MB

I don't understand what this stuff even means. Can you access x,y,z -?

X Y and Z are part of the hard drive as well, so you have to add that space too, but you cant put anything on them though, they are cache space and are regularly wiped by games

hard drives will always be slightly smaller than their advertised sizes due to different definitions of gigabyte, a hard drive manufacturers say 1000 bytes in a kilobyte, 1000 kilobytes in a megabyte and so forth, while a computer uses 1024

a 10gb hard drive (10,000,000,000 bytes) will show as 9.31gb since a gigabyte is really 1,073,741,824 bytes to a computer (or xbox)

the H drive is an 8mb memory card you have plugged into the first slot of a controller in port 1 smile.gif
